New Computer on Module series with NXP i.MX 8M Mini and i.MX 8M Plus

With the launch of the new NXP i.MX 8M Plus processor Ka-Ro has extended their range of high performance but small form factor Computer on Modules. The 8M Plus processor includes a machine learning accelerator in silicon for edge processing of AI and ML applications. Ka-Ro is an early partner for the i.MX 8M Plus, and we will have development kits and prototype modules for shipment at the NXP launch in Q1 2021.

QSXP-2

Building on the QS Family Concept, QSX is a new 29 mm2, 108-pin QFN. The 8-pin expansion adds PCIe and USB 3.0, while retaining pin-compatibility with all QS modules. Customers can use a common pad footprint for either a QS or QSX, creating a product platform across the entire QS/QSX Family Concept.

QSXM-2

The QSX Family Concept provides all the benefits of the QS Family: very small size, ease of design and manufacturing, no components underneath, and superior electrical and thermal performance from the ground/thermal pads. In addition, the QSX uses LPDDR4 RAM, which provides 2GB of memory for better performance in demanding applications with only a modest cost increase. The first QSX modules will be the NXP i.MX 8M Mini (QSXM-MM60) and the new NXP i.MX 8M Plus (QSXP-ML81.)

TX8P

The QSX SOM (QSXP-ML81) will include 2GB RAM and 8GB Flash for these demanding applications. A TX SOM for the 8M Plus (TX8P-ML81) with the same memory configuration will be available in Q1 2021.
